THESE PRISON WALLS
Dedicated to Rodney Lee Lincoln

Tho these prison walls confine me,
I will NOT allow them to define me.

A horrific evil crime has been done,
Children have been hurt, their mother is gone.
A finger was pointed straight at me,
But I am not the one, this you must see.

A trial was held, the jury, they could not decide,
We will try him again, till then we will keep him inside.
At the crime scene, a hair they did find,
They said it MIGHT be similar to mine.

And so the gavel has landed, the book has been closed,
Behind these prison walls they said I must go.
Didn't they listen to a word that had been said,
Lord please tell me this isn't so.

Tho these prison walls confine me,
I will NOT let them define me.

Now decades have passed, as my home, this cold prison cell
As I continue to live in this nightmarish hell.
But I continue to hope someday, someone will see,
This terrible monster is someone else, he is not me.

They can take away my freedom,
They can keep me and my family apart.
But they will NEVER take away my strength,
Or the love I have in my heart.

So for now these prison walls confine me,
But I will NOT allow them to define me.

Finally a group of people see the truth,
They said they believe in me.
They are my new found hope,
They are the M.I.P.

They will be my voice, they will be heard.
I know they will spread the word.
They said 'Mr. Lincoln, for you we will stand up and fight,
We will not rest until this injustice is made right."

But for now these prison walls confine me,
But I will NOT allow them to define me.

The motions have all been filed,
The DNA tests have all been done.
My M.I.P. are very confident,
My case will finally be WON.

But for now I will continue to sit here and wait,
For that glorious day, when I walk through the gate.
And return to my home to be happy and free,
And live out my life with my loving family.

Yes, for now these prison walls confine me,
But I will NEVER allow them to define me.
